Saarbrucken, 30 October (Hindustan Reporter) Indian shuttler Malvika Bansod has entered the second round of the ongoing HiLo Open 2024 by defeating Bulgaria's Histomira Popovska in the first round on Tuesday.
Malvika Bansod, ranked 34th in the world badminton rankings, registered an easy 21-6, 21-17 win against Popovska in the opening round of the women's singles event in the BWF Super 300 tournament played at the badminton courts of the Saarlandhalle Indoor Arena.
Last year's quarterfinalist Malvika Bansod, seeded sixth in the tournament, will face Denmark's Irina Amli Andersen in the next round.
Malavika's compatriot Rakshita Sri Santosh Ramraj also defeated Chinese Taipei's Yu Chien Hui 21-13, 21-19 in less than 30 minutes to enter the second round of women's singles, where she will face eighth seed Julie of Denmark. Daval will be from Jacobsen.
Meanwhile, Keyura Mopati entered the women's singles main draw after defeating local player Miranda Wilson 21-15, 21-15 in the qualifiers.
India's Priya Konzengbaum/Shruti Mishra will play against sixth seeds Natasja P Anthonisen/Michen Fruergaard in the women's doubles.
