Dehradun, 30 October (HS). An agreement was signed between the Uttarakhand government and ITBP in a program at the Chief Minister's residence on Wednesday in the presence of the Chief Minister and Animal Husbandry Minister Saurabh Bahuguna. With this agreement, more than 11 thousand cattle farmers will get direct benefits through more than 80 cooperative societies of the state.
Under the Vibrant Village Scheme, an agreement was signed for the supply of local products like live goat, sheep, chicken and fish to the ITBP corps deployed in Uttarakhand. The memorandum was signed by Secretary Dr. BVRC Purushottam and IG Sanjay Gunjyal from ITBP. On this occasion, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that this agreement will increase the livelihood of the people at the local level and they will feel that in some way or the other they are connected with the security of the country. This will also increase the contact of local people with ITBP. People living in border areas are the sentinels of the country. ITBP will act as brand ambassador to promote local products of the state.
Make a plan to supply vegetables, milk, cheese, eggs to ITBP
While giving instructions to the officials, the Chief Minister said that it should be ensured that the availability of local products of the state remains in sufficient quantity. He said that a plan should be made to make arrangements for supply of vegetables, milk, cheese and eggs to ITBP from the state.
Livelihood of cattle herders will increase: Saurabh Bahuguna
Animal Husbandry Minister Saurabh Bahuguna said that this important decision has been taken to increase the livelihood of animal farmers and fish farmers. For this he expressed gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Dhami. He said that this will also help in stopping migration.
Seven thousand women are included
With this agreement, more than 11 thousand cattle farmers will get direct benefits through more than 80 cooperative societies of the state. In which mainly 07 thousand women are included. Among the sheep and goat farmers, 10 thousand cattle farmers, more than 800 for the supply of Kurkut and more than 500 fish farmers for the supply of fish will get benefit from it.
Estimated annual turnover of Rs 200 crore
This is the first time in Uttarakhand in which such a large number of sheep, goat, fish and poultry farmers are being made available to the market for marketing. This is expected to generate an annual turnover of Rs 200 crore. Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, Dilip Jawalkar and ITBP officials were present on this occasion.
