Election Commission rejects Congress's allegations: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has rejected Congress' allegations regarding electronic voting machine (EVM) malfunction during the Haryana Assembly elections 2024. In a written reply to Congress Party President Mallikarjun Kharge, the Election Commission said that EVMs are completely safe. And battery has no effect on the result. Therefore the allegations are baseless. And there is no truth in this.
Advice to Congress to work hard
ECI wrote in the letter, 'Making such allegations during sensitive days of voting and counting can lead to public unrest and anarchy. Citing five specific cases in the last one year, the ECI asked the Congress to use its long electoral experience and refrain from attacking the Election Commission without any evidence.
Battery selection has no effect on results
On Congress' complaint, the Election Commission said, 'All EVMs are safe. And batteries have no impact on election results. Responding to complaints against 26 returning officers of Haryana, the ECI said Congress representatives were present in all the election phases.
Not a single proof found!
Citing the court order, ECI said, 'Regarding EVMs, the court has said in several decisions that EVMs are tamper-free and reliable. No such evidence has been found on record to prove that there is any defect in the EVM. Or it is not reliable. No virus or any bug can be placed in EVM. Therefore the question of illegal voting does not arise. EVMs with VVPAT system ensure the accuracy of the voting system. The Election Commission has successfully conducted free and fair elections.
What were the allegations of Congress?
Congress said in its allegations that during the counting of votes on October 8, the batteries of some EVM machines were charged up to 99 percent. And some voting machines had 60 to 80 percent battery. Where the battery is 99 percent charged, BJP gets more votes. Whereas Congress has got more votes in those places where the battery charge is between 60 to 80 percent.
Congress demanded re-counting in these areas
After losing the Haryana Assembly elections 2024, Congress has demanded the Election Commission to recount the votes in 20 assembly constituencies. And in the letter written to five, it was said that there is a problem with the EVM. The assembly constituencies about which Congress had complained include Narnaul, Karnal, Dabwali, Rewari, Hodal, Kalka, Panipat City, Indri, Badkhal, Faridabad NIT, Nalwa, Rania, Pataudi, Palwal, Ballabhgarh, Barwala, Uchana Kala, Gharaunda. Are. Kosli includes Badshahpur and other areas.
