New Delhi, 29 October (Hindustan Reporter). The much-awaited and fastest form of the game, Hong Kong Cricket Sixes is back to entertain everyone. The tournament will be held from 1 to 3 November at the Tin Kwong Road Cricket Ground, featuring 12 teams competing in six-a-side matches.
The 12 teams have been divided into four pools of three each and will compete in a round-robin format. India, under the leadership of Robin Uthappa, is part of Pool C and along with UAE, its arch-rival Pakistan is also there.
In Pool A, hosts Hong Kong will face South Africa and New Zealand while Pool B includes Australia, England and Nepal. There will be a match between Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Oman in Pool D.
The tournament will begin with a match between South Africa and Hong Kong, while there will also be a high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan on the first day.
The top two teams from each pool will play quarter-finals and the winners of the quarter-final round will advance to the semi-finals. The teams that lose in the quarters will play the plate semi-finals. The bottom-placed team in each pool will play in a bowl tournament. There will be a total of 29 matches in three days of the competition.
A women's exhibition match is also scheduled on the final day of the tournament to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
All the exciting matches of Hong Kong Sixes 2024 will be telecasted on Star Sports and FanCode. The telecast will be done at 8:15 am (Hong Kong time) and 5:45 am (Indian time).
