New Delhi, 29 October (Hindustan Reporter). New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson will not play in the third and final Test match against India starting on Friday in Mumbai.

The 34-year-old Williamson, who missed the first two Tests in Bengaluru and Pune, will also not be a part of the third Test, instead looking to nurse his back injury to prepare for the upcoming three-Test home series against England. Will continue rehabilitation.

England's first Test will start from November 28 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. New Zealand defeated India by eight wickets in Bengaluru and by 113 runs in Pune to take an unassailable 2-0 lead and win a historic Test series in India for the first time.

New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said, “Kane continues to show good signs, but he is not quite ready to get on the plane and join us. Although things are looking promising, we feel the best move for him is to stay in New Zealand and focus on the final part of his rehabilitation, so it would be good for him to move to England. There is still a month left in the England series so adopting a cautious approach now will ensure that he is ready for the first Test in Christchurch.”
