Mahasamund, 29 October (Hindustan Reporter). Women of rural areas of Mahasamund district development block of Chhattisgarh are setting an example of social and economic upliftment by joining self-help groups. Women associated with Bihan Yojana are using various livelihoods as a means of employment. The women of Gram Panchayat Sher Ki Sua Mahila Self-Help Group are making different types of iron wire mesh for use in fields, barns and gardens. Now even iron seems to be bowing before the spirit of the women of the self-help group. When women with their soft hands are manufacturing fencing wire mesh as a livelihood for themselves and their families. This group has so far manufactured 3000 bundles of wire mesh, which has earned an income of about Rs 6 lakh by selling it in government and non-government institutions. Group president Divya Nayak says that before joining the group, she used to go to someone else's place to work on making wire mesh. About three years ago, I was inspired to join the group under Bihaan and by joining the group, I got information about how women can become self-reliant and how they can do their own business. All 11 of us women together formed Sua Mahila Self Help Group. After formation, the RF amount of Rs 15000 was provided to the group as a grant and a loan of Rs 2 lakh was also provided to the group. After learning wire mesh work from others, he started his own wire mesh making work. With the loan received, he purchased machines and related materials and started production. Due to the support received from Bihaan Yojana, today all of us have become self-reliant.

It is noteworthy that women of self-help groups often work together for community economic development. Through groups, women can jointly raise funds, take loans, and engage in business activities. Moreover, in these groups women can share knowledge and experiences among themselves, which leads to their development and also helps them towards social harmony. These women are changing their fortunes by doing various jobs and struggling to support their families and improve their living standards and are playing an important role in the society. These reveal the courage, struggle, and success of such women's groups, and help other women move toward prosperity. In these groups, women are coming forward along with their friends for economic organization and development.
