Transparency is necessary to develop a culture of integrity: Chief Minister

Dehradun, 28 October (HS). Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that to develop a culture of integrity, it is important for everyone to work with truth, honesty, morality and transparency. Such officers who have expertise in this field should also be included in the vigilance establishment. During this, the Chief Minister announced to form a team of surveillance, technical and financial experts with the aim of making the functioning of the Vigilance Department more effective.

Chief Minister Dhami was speaking after inaugurating the Vigilance Awareness Week and training camp organized by the Vigilance Foundation Directorate on 'Nation's prosperity through culture of integrity' at Kargi Grant on Haridwar Bypass Road on Monday. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also honored the personnel doing commendable work in the Vigilance Establishment by giving them citations. On this occasion, the Chief Minister remembered the iron man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who dedicated his life for the unity and integrity of the country. He said that on the occasion of Patel's birth anniversary, “Vigilance Awareness Week” is organized every year to make public administration transparent and accountable. Everyone will work with transparency to fulfill the objective for which this week is being celebrated. “Vigilance Public Awareness Week and Training Camp” will prove helpful in making the public aware of their rights and making the public administration transparent and accountable.

Strict action taken if found guilty of corruption

The Chief Minister said that work is being done at a rapid pace in every field to achieve the Prime Minister's resolve to make India a developed nation by the year 2047. The country is also becoming prosperous economically, socially and morally. The e-governance initiative launched under the leadership of the Prime Minister has promoted transparency in government processes. Demonetization, GST and DBT system have led to the eradication of corruption. He said that the state government is working with a policy of zero tolerance towards corruption. Strict action has been taken against those found guilty of corruption.

7800 complaints registered on toll-free number, action taken against 75 people

Director Vigilance V. Murugesan said that after the toll-free number 1064 was also released in 2022, 7800 complaints were registered on it. The Vigilance Department has conducted 66 traps in the last “3 years. Action has been taken against 75 people.

On this occasion, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Secretary Home Shailesh Bagoli, Additional Director General of Police Amit Sinha, A.P. Anshuman, Superintendent of Police Vigilance Renu Lohani and other officers of Vigilance Department were present.
