Shimla, 26 October (Hindustan Reporter). Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu visited the remote area Dodra Kwar of Shimla district on Saturday and gifted Samman Nidhi to the women here. The Chief Minister launched Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi for district Shimla at Dodra Kwar and released Samman Nidhi for 12 months from April 1, 2024 to 509 eligible women. He released an amount of Rs 91.62 lakh to the beneficiary women. Along with this, after receiving social security pension, Rs 45.45 lakh was given to 505 other women of Dodra-Kwar as six months' pension at the rate of Rs 1500 per month pension being given as per Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh-Samman Nidhi Yojana. He said that under the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi, the state government is providing Rs 18,000 per year to women.
During this, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone and inaugurated projects worth about Rs 12 crore in Dodra Kwar. He inaugurated Gosang-Jiskun road constructed at a cost of Rs 5.43 crore, while also laid the foundation stone of Dodra-Chamdhar road constructed at a cost of Rs 5.46 crore and Gosang-Harli road constructed at a cost of Rs 85 lakh.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the first ATM in Kwar, which has been installed by Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank.
The Chief Minister said that this is my third Dodra-Kwar tour. He said that the present government will bring schemes to empower the five panchayats of Dodra-Kwar. He said that work is going on war footing to build the road till Jakha which will be completed by December. The state government will create a separate district council of Dodra-Kwar in Shimla district so that the representatives here can better convey the problems of the area to the state government.
Sukhu announced to give Rs 1 crore each for the development of the five panchayats of Dodra-Kwar. He announced to provide Rs 4.5 crore for Bailey Bridge to connect Uttarakhand, which will provide 12 months connectivity to Dodra-Kwar. He announced to provide full funding to the two bridges being built between Jiskoon and Jakha. He said that the 50 km road from Ladot to Dodra-Kwar will be paved by October 2025. Also assured to provide adequate funds to complete the rest house of the Public Works Department being built in Kwar.
He said that the work of the school under construction in Dodra will be completed soon and adequate staff will be deployed in the school. Along with this, doctors and nurses will be appointed in Dodra Kwar, so that the residents here can get better health facilities. He also assured to provide funds for the new building of Civil Hospital. The Chief Minister announced Rs 25 lakh for paving the road from Kwar Heliport to SDM office and announced running of buses till Jiskoon. He also inspected the land selected for the Civil Hospital at Kwar. He said that the state government will take up the matter with the Central government for providing OBC status to Dodra Kwar region.
