Elephant crushes laborer while trying to take selfie

Mumbai: A young man found it difficult to take a selfie with an elephant in the forest of Abapur village in Charmoshi taluka of Gadchiroli. Seeing the young man, the elephant ran away and crushed the young man. While his two other companions along with him managed to escape. The name of the youth killed in the elephant attack is Shrikant Ramchandra Satre (23). He was a resident of Bhujla village of Mool taluka of Chandrapur district. Six people have lost their lives in elephant attacks in Gadchiroli in just one year.

According to the details received in this regard, cable laying work is currently being done in Aabapur area of ​​Gadchiroli. Shrikant Satre had come here with two of his fellow employees to lay cables. Meanwhile, Srikant came to know that wild elephants have come to this area, he and two of his companions saw that three of them had gone to the forest to see the elephants this morning.

During this time, the eyes of these three fell on an elephant. Srikanth became very excited and started trying to take a selfie near the elephant's trunk.

Meanwhile, the elephant became furious and attacked Srikant and crushed him. Srikanth, who was seriously injured in the attack, died tragically on the spot. Seeing this scene, Shrikant along with his two other companions ran away from there and saved their lives.

As soon as information about the incident was received, police and forest department officials reached the spot and took Panchnama action. The attacking tusker elephant first came to Aathgaon and then Gadchiroli forest range and then entered the Kunghara forest range.

In the last one year, six people have died due to elephant attacks in the forests here. On 16 September 2023, a driver of Palasgaon-Dongargaon forest department of Armori taluka was shot dead. Then on October 17, 2023, Dhimna farmer Homaji Gurnule was crushed by an elephant in his own field. Whereas in summer this year, an elephant had crushed two women in Hindor, Bhamragarh. Later today, Srikanth died in an elephant attack in Charmoshi.
