Anuppur, 25 October (Hindustan Reporter). On Thursday night, the Kotwali police raided the house of an accused who was absconding in illegal drug cough syrup smuggling and seized 1840 pieces of Nitrazepam tablets, which are used in the banned drug. In the case, the father of the absconding accused was arrested and charged under section 8B/21/22 NDPS Act and 5/13 Madhya Pradesh. The Drug Control Act was registered and presented in the court from where he was sent to jail.
Police station in-charge Kotwali Inspector Arvind Jain said that on Thursday night, a raid was conducted at the house of accused Komal alias Daroga Rathore in village Barri, who was absconding with the police team. On the spot, the father of the absconding accused, 58-year-old Shyamlal Rathore, resident of village Barri, was found drunk. 1840 pieces of banned Nitrazepam tablets worth Rs. 18000 were seized in Kotwali Anuppur police station under section 8B/21/22 NDPS Act and 5/13 M.P. The Drug Control Act was registered and presented in the court from where he was sent to jail.
Let it be known that on Thursday, Kotwali police detected criminals engaged in smuggling and illegal trade of intoxicating cough syrup in the district and found 271 vials of illegal codeine-containing cough syrup worth Rs 108400 being smuggled from Satna district to Anuppur by car. The money was seized and two accused were arrested and sent to jail. Police is searching for the absconding accused Kamal Rathore alias Daroga resident of Barri and Ravi Shankar Pandey resident of Anuppur.
