Special Posco court sentenced the rapist of a minor to twenty years of rigorous imprisonment.

The court of Araria Special POCSO Court Judge Ajay Kumar sentenced the rapist of the minor to rigorous imprisonment for up to twenty years and a fine of fifty thousand rupees. Also, in case of non-payment of the fine amount, the culprit will have to face additional punishment of up to three months. Also ordered in its decision. The court has also directed the Legal Services Authority to give Rs 5 lakh as compensation in favor of the victim under the Victim Compensation Act. The court sentenced the culprit in special POCSO case number 84/2023. The convicted convict is Dashrath Sharma, 27, father – Shivanandan Sharma, resident of Bathnaha area of ​​the district.

The incident took place in Jogbani police station area and its informant is the father of the victim. On the basis of whose statement, Jogbani police station case number 272/23 was registered. The case is of 7 pm on Thursday, November 2, 2023 under Jogbani police station area. The informant's minor daughter had gone towards the garage behind the shop to defecate. The culprit, who had already ambushed her, caught her and took her to a parked truck, threatening her with a knife, and raped her. When she did not return till late night, her family members started searching. The culprit's slippers and towel were recovered near the parked truck and the culprit had fled to Nepal. Police completed the investigation in the case and registered a case against the culprit on 30 November 2023. The charge sheet was submitted to the same and the decision came in the court after about eight months.

While hearing the point of punishment, defense advocate Amrit Kant Jha pleaded for minimum punishment. While Special Public Prosecutor POSCO Shyam Lal Yadav argued for the punishment to be given as per law. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the court sentenced Ajay Kumar to death.
