These organisms are present inside and outside every part of our body. Like our skin, mouth, nose, eyes, ears, airways, stomach, intestines, lungs etc. It is estimated that 700 types of bacteria live in our mouth. There are 15 million bacteria and other organisms having fun on our skin all the time. The group of organisms resident in each organ is unique. These groups of organisms are called microbiomes. As a baby grows, his or her microbiome continues to grow, develop and change. The greatest variety and diversity of these organisms is found in our intestines, where most of the body's 3.6 trillion organisms are estimated to live here.
