According to the latest information from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Dana was centered about 30 km north-northwest of Dhamra and 50 km north-northwest of Hablikhati Nature Camp (Bhitarkanika) at 7.30 am. Strong winds are blowing in Odisha after the storm. It is raining heavily. Manorama Mohanty, local director of IMD Bhubaneswar, has predicted that there will be winds and heavy rains throughout the day in Odisha today. These 14 districts include Angul, Nayagarh, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Kendujhar, Jajpur, Cuttack and Dhenkanal, Khurda, Ganjam and Puri. Odisha government has deployed 20 NDRF teams in the field to deal with the damage. 51 teams of Odisha Disaster Rapid Force are also in the field. 178 teams of fire brigade are on alert mode. 16 lakh people have been shifted to 6 thousand relief camps. These districts include East Medinipur, West Medinipur, South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas, Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly and Jhargram. There is an alert that there may be heavy rain in 8 districts from 23rd to 26th October. Due to which schools and colleges are closed. 85 relief teams are deployed in the coastal areas. The airport in Kolkata is closed. 159837 people have been shifted to relief camps.
Rayalaseema of Andhra Pradesh may also be affected by the cyclone. There is a possibility of rain in the area. Wind can blow at a speed of 30 to 50 km per hour. Andhra government has deployed 9 NDRF teams in the coastal areas due to security reasons.
In Jharkhand, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Simdega, Seraikela-Kharsawa, Deodhar, Dhanbad, Dumka, Giridih, Godda, Jamtara may be affected. There may be heavy rain in these areas. The government has deployed 9 NDRF teams.
The effect of cyclonic storm Dana can be seen in 8 districts of Chhattisgarh. Therefore, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for all the 8 districts of the state. There may be rain in these districts for the next 3 days from 25th to 27th. Wind can blow at a speed of 40 kilometers per hour.
In Bihar, the effect of cyclonic storm can be seen in Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui, Munger, Sheikhpura, Nalanda, Jehanabad, Lakhisarai, Nawada, Gaya, Katihar, Purnia, Kishanganj. The weather department has predicted light to heavy rain in these cities. Apart from this, winds can blow at a speed of 40 km per hour. The state government has advised people to stay safe.
There has been a warning of heavy rain in Tamil Nadu also. Some states of Eastern India may also receive rain for the next 5 days. There will be light rain with thunder and lightning in 8 districts of the state including Jabalpur. However, there will be sunshine in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Ujjain.
