Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Mazi said 4,431 pregnant women were shifted to health centers due to Cyclone Dana, of which 1,600 babies have been born. A total of 5,84,888 people have been evacuated safely from danger areas in the state. This number may increase. “These people are living in shelters, where they are being provided food, medicine, water and other essentials,” Mazi said.

The chief minister said the highest number of people were evacuated from Balasore district, where 172,916 people were evacuated to safe places, followed by Mayurbhanj where 100,000 people were evacuated. Apart from this, 75 thousand people were evacuated from Bhadrak, 58 thousand from Jajpur and 46 thousand from Kendrapara. He clarified that the state government had initially set a target of evacuating 10 lakh people and the target was adjusted based on the changing path of the cyclone. The Chief Minister said, “We have evacuated all the people safely from the danger areas.”

The birth was announced by the state government's Information and Public Relations (I&PR) department, which said it included 4,431 pregnant women who were taken to cyclone shelters. 1600 children have been born to them.
