In 2018, green crackers were developed by the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI). It is a part of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.
How eco-friendly are green crackers?
These are also called eco-friendly crackers for a reason. These make less noise than normal firecrackers. Spread less air pollution. As a result, they do not cause as much harm to the environment. Let us tell you why this happens.
According to NEERI, generally the quantity of ingredients used in green crackers is very less. Apart from this, these firecrackers do not produce much smoke and ash. When they burn, they release water particles that serve to suppress the dust that rises after the fireworks burn. As a result, it also suppresses the dust and smoke it emits compared to other crackers. Thus these green crackers cannot spread pollution. Green crackers do not contain harmful chemicals that increase pollution. These make 30 percent less noise than firecrackers.
There are 3 types of green crackers
Green crackers are prepared in 3 categories. These are called SWAS, SAFAL and STAR. What is the difference between these three?
SWAS: Its full name is Safer Water Releaser. It does not contain sulfur and potassium nitrate. When it erupts it releases fine particles of water.
Star: It is called safe thermite cracker. It does not contain potassium nitrate and sulphur. It makes less noise and releases very little PM particles into the air.
SAFAL: This is called safe minimum aluminium. Magnesium has been used instead of aluminum in its preparation.
