Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Chairperson Madhavi Puri Buch did not appear before Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) today as committee chairman KC Venugopal adjourned the meeting.
BJP complained to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, accusing Venugopal of taking unilateral decisions and indecent behaviour.
According to Congress leader Venugopal, Buch told at 9.30 am today that he would not be able to attend the PAC meeting due to personal reasons, after which it was decided to postpone the meeting.
Venugopal told journalists that in the first meeting of the committee, we had decided that in view of the insistence of a woman, the meeting should be postponed.
BJP members allege that Venugopal took the decision to postpone the meeting without discussing with us.
BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said that this is a big topic. The job of PAC is to discuss the CAG report. How did he himself take the decision to postpone the meeting?
