New Delhi, 24 October (Hindustan Reporter). The Supreme Court has allowed NCP's Ajit Pawar faction to use the 'clock' election symbol for the upcoming Maharashtra elections but said “make it clear in all your posters that the clock symbol is being disputed in court and The matter is under consideration.” A bench headed by Justice Surya Kant asked Ajit's group to submit an affidavit that they were putting the disclaimer 'matter sub-judice' along with the clock symbol.

During the hearing, lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for the Sharad Pawar faction, said that we are demanding instructions to the Election Commission to allot new election symbols to the Ajit Pawar faction for the ongoing assembly elections. Then the court said that we have already decided on this matter, so now are you demanding a review. Then Singhvi said that the founder of NCP is Sharad Pawar. Everyone says this. The clock symbol is currently with Ajit Pawar group and people will misunderstand and vote for Ajit Pawar as Sharad Pawar.

Singhvi argued that we want you to instruct the Election Commission not to allot the clock symbol to any faction of NCP. As of now, neither our group nor Ajit Pawar group should be allotted the clock election symbol. Both the groups should be given separate election symbols. Showing the poster of Ladli Brahmin Yojana, he said that there is a clock symbol on it but there is no disclaimer there. Then the court directed the Ajit Pawar group to file an affidavit and said that they should file a new affidavit in the Supreme Court and tell that they will put a disclaimer as per the order of March 19 of the Supreme Court. The court said that the disclaimer order should be followed in all circumstances. The Supreme Court will hear the case next on November 6.
