Shimla, 24 October (Hindustan Reporter). Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has appealed to NITI Aayog to provide green bonus to provide special financial assistance to Himachal Pradesh. He said that Himachal Pradesh, which is acting as the “lungs” of Northern India, requires different parameters for conservation of forest area and natural resources.
Chief Minister Sukhu said these things in a special meeting held with NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Beri and other experts in New Delhi today. He urged to study the special needs of Himachal and present the state's case strongly before the funding agencies.
He also stressed the need for the State to have its fair share in the royalty of hydro power projects being run by Central Public Sector Undertakings. Sukhu discussed in detail the vision of Green Himachal and also underlined the need for better air and rail connectivity to the state.
Apart from this, the Chief Minister also focused on the challenges of natural disasters and increasing cases of cancer in the state and suggested conducting a detailed study to solve the same. NITI Aayog Vice Chairman assured that a panel of experts will study the cases presented by Himachal Pradesh.
