Ranchi, 24 October (HS). Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar has said that the focus is on increasing the voting percentage and speed of voting in the assembly elections. Polling personnel are also being trained for this. He said that the work of delivering voter information slips to every voter will begin from Saturday. He gave this information while talking to journalists at Nirvachan Sadan, Dhurwa on Thursday.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that this process will continue till November 5. During this period, the voter information slip of the voters who are absent at their place, who have died or who have gone to some other place, have to be submitted to the election officer after November 5. To prevent misuse, that information slip is counted and sealed.

Appealing to the voters, he said that they should go to vote only by noting down the part number and serial number mentioned in the voter information slip. The part number and serial number on the Voter Information Slip will be circled. There will be no time wasted in searching the names of voters by serial number. It will be convenient to stand in the right queue using the part number. Because a lot of time is wasted in searching voter information by name and it also affects the speed of voting. He said that by doing this a voter will complete the entire voting process within just one and a half minutes. This will significantly reduce the voting time and voters will also be able to avoid unnecessary hassles.

He said that since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, illegal goods and cash worth about Rs 27 crore have been seized. He said that the nomination process is going on peacefully. The last date for nomination for the first phase of elections is October 25.
