SC Bar Association objects to Lady Justice new statue: A controversy has arisen in the Supreme Court regarding the new statue of the Goddess of Justice. The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has also expressed displeasure over Murthy. While passing the resolution, the association said that unilateral changes have been made in the statue without discussing with us. SCBA, headed by senior lawyer Kapil Sibal, in a resolution presented on Tuesday has opposed the change in the logo of the Supreme Court and the new statue. Specifically, the new statue depicts Lady Justice blindfolded and with her eyes open. The constitution is shown in his hand instead of the sword.
we were not consulted
SCBA Executive Committee members have stated in the resolution that we are equal stakeholders in the administration of justice, but we were not informed about the changes. Also, the logic behind these changes was not explained.
He described the change in the statue as revolutionary and said that he should have been consulted before making the statue. This should not be done unilaterally. The association also objected to the conversion of the judges' library in the Supreme Court building into a museum.
The eyes of the goddess of justice will open
A white statue of the new goddess of Justice is depicted in a sari. Instead of a sword, he has the scale of justice in his hand and the Constitution of India in the other hand. The new statue was unveiled on 16 October. Meanwhile, Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud said that everyone is equal in the eyes of law. He also explained the reason for removing the blindfold from Pratima.
The new statue is being seen as an effort to dispel the idea that the law is blind. The scales represent balance and fairness in justice, and the constitution is replaced by a sword as a symbol of punishment.
