Lok Sabha by-elections are to be held in Wayanad, Kerala. Due to which BJP and Congress have fielded their respective candidates. Congress candidate Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra conducted a road show yesterday and filed her nomination papers. Then today BJP candidate Navya Haridas came with BJP leaders to fill the nomination form.
There will be change in Wayanad- Navya Haridas
Today, I am filing my nomination and state and national leaders of BJP will be with me,” Navya Haridas said while talking to the media before filing the nomination form. I am very excited and happy that the party has given me such an amazing opportunity. We have started the election process only a few days ago. People need change in politics so I think they will favor BJP this time… Not to raise issues, I will look for solutions to the issues because I believe that BJP led central government and PM Narendra Modi is taking initiative to raise all these I can definitely bring change in Wayanad.
Voting on 13 November
Haridas has been a councilor in Kozhikode Municipal Corporation twice. She is also the state general secretary of Mahila Morcha. Rahul Gandhi, brother of opposition candidate Priyanka Gandhi, was elected from Wayanad and Rae Bareli in the Lok Sabha elections. Later he decided to vacate the Wayanad seat. For this reason, by-election is being held here for which voting will be held on 13th November.
Who is Navya Haridas?
- Navya Haridas has been a councilor in Kozhikode Corporation twice.
- He is the leader of BJP councilor party.
- She is also the state general secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha.
- Navya Haridas holds a B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering from KMCT College of Engineering, Calicut University.
- He was the BJP candidate from Kozhikode South constituency in the 2021 Kerala Assembly election, but lost to Congress candidate Ahmed Devarkovil.
Why will there be a by-election?
Let us tell you that Rahul Gandhi was elected MP from this seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, apart from Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi also contested from Amethi Lok Sabha seat. When the election results came, he won both the seats. After this, Rahul Gandhi announced to remain MP from Amethi seat only. Hence Wayanad seat became vacant. This seat became vacant after Rahul Gandhi left Wayanad seat. However, the Election Commission also announced the date of by-election to Wayanad Lok Sabha seat today.
