PG course will start soon in Dr. Radhakrishnan Medical College, Hamirpur: Chief Minister

Shimla, 23 October (Hindustan Reporter). Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that postgraduate (PG) courses will soon be started in Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College (RKGMC) located in Hamirpur. Six posts of Associate Professor and 10 posts of Assistant Professor have been created for this college.

On Wednesday, Chief Minister Sukhu said that the state government has given approval to create six posts of Associate Professor and 10 posts of Assistant Professor and fill them soon in major departments like General Medicine, Pediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Anesthesia and Radiology for this college. He said that postgraduate specialists are the backbone of the medical college and play an important role in improving health services. Therefore it is necessary to include these courses in the medical college.

The Chief Minister said that in view of the increasing number of patients in Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur, there is a need to start postgraduate courses to provide specialist treatment to patients in this college to improve patient care and health services. He said that necessity-cum-feasibility certificate has already been issued for starting PG courses in Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Physiology departments.

Sukhu said that the state government has approved the creation and filling of 150 posts of nursing personnel for Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur. He said the recruitment of these positions will ensure improved patient care and better working conditions for the nursing staff. He said that the State Government is committed to ensure the best patient-nurse ratio, under which 1:1 in ICU, 1:2 in labor room and 1:4 in antenatal general wards are being followed.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is laying special emphasis on strengthening medical colleges in the state. In the last one year, the State Government has approved filling of 1182 new posts of various categories for Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Shimla and Dr. Rajendra Prasad Medical College (RPGMC) Tanda, District Kangra. Similarly, for the convenience of patients, adequate staff and infrastructure has been ensured at Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Government Medical College, Nahan, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College, Chamba and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College and Hospital, Nerchowk, Mandi. Every possible effort is being made to do this also.
