New Delhi, 23 October (Hindustan Reporter). To honor the great contribution of the country's first Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Central Government will celebrate his 150th birth anniversary as a nationwide celebration from 2024 to 2026.
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah informed about this decision in X Post on Wednesday. He said that the enduring legacy of Sardar Patel as a visionary behind the establishment of India's democracy, one of the strongest democracies in the world, and his vital role in the integration of India from Kashmir to Lakshadweep is indelible. He said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel as a nationwide celebration from 2024 to 2026 to honor his great contributions. The ceremony will witness the remarkable achievements of Sardar Patel and symbolize the spirit of unity.
It is noteworthy that Sardar Patel was born on October 31, 1875 in Nadiad, Gujarat. Modi government has been celebrating 31st October as 'National Unity Day' since 2014. Patel is credited with merging more than 550 princely states into the Union of India.
