Of the five Naxalites killed in the Bhamragad encounter in Maharashtra, four were identified as residents of Chhag.

Maharashtra Police had killed five Naxalites carrying a total reward of Rs 38 lakh in an encounter that took place on Monday, October 21, in Taluka Bhamragarh of Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra, bordering Chhattisgarh. Out of these, four Naxalite Deve alias Rita, Basant, Sukhmati and woman Naxalite of DivCM Company No. 10 Jaya alias Bhuri Padda have been identified as residents of Chhattisgarh. A reward of Rs 16 lakh was declared against him also. The bodies of all the killed Naxalites have been brought to the police headquarters in Gadchiroli and their families are waiting.

According to the information released by Gadchiroli SP Yatin Deshmukh, the Maharashtra government had declared a reward of Rs 16 lakh against Ulia Pakhanjur, a woman Naxalite of DivCM Company No. 10 of Kanker district, Jaya alias Bhuri Padda resident. A total of 41 criminal cases including four murders are registered against Naxalite Jaya. Dalam member Naxalite Deve alias Rita, Basant and Sukhmati, all three were residents of Bastar Chhag. A reward of Rs 2 lakh each has been declared against all. There are 10 cases registered against Basant. Sukhmati was the bodyguard of DVCM rank Naxalite Rupesh Mandavi of Company No. 10. Among the 5 Naxalites killed, the only DVCM member Savji alias Anklu Dasru, resident of Tulavi, Gureksa, was from Gadchiroli, Maharashtra. A reward of Rs 16 lakh was declared against him also. There are 54 murder cases registered against Savji. Apart from this, a total of 226 other crimes including arson, Naxalite, robbery are registered with Maharashtra Police.
