Jalandhar : Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) will now be supplied through underground pipeline from Jalandhar to the historical site Govindwal Sahib. Goindwal Sahib already has an LPG bottling plant, but LPG is transported through bullet trucks. After laying the underground pipeline, the cost of LG transportation will be eliminated and the possibility of damage due to accidents of heavy bullet trucks will also be eliminated.

The work of laying underground pipeline from Suchipind to Goindwal Sahib is going to start soon, for which first the process of land acquisition under Right of Way (ROW) will start. Jalandhar District Revenue Officer Navdeep Singh Bhogal has been appointed the nodal officer for the land acquisition process.

According to the information received from the pipeline division of Indian Oil, the length of the underground pipeline till Goindwal Sahib will be about 80 kilometers and it will reach Goindwal Sahib via Kapurthala. To prevent any possible accident due to leakage, a control room will be built every 15 km, from where the supply will be controlled through valves. However, the entire pipeline will be monitored with state-of-the-art equipment and any emergency can be dealt with in a jiffy. Apart from this, Indian Oil teams are also continuously monitoring the pipeline area.
