Kathua 11 March (Hindustan Reporter) A delegation of local people of Ward No. 21 of Kathua city met District Deputy Commissioner Kathua regarding their problems. In which he has demanded proper drainage of dirty water in Ward 21.
Amarnath Thakur, a resident of Ramnagar Colony, in the delegation told that before 1995, Ward No. 21 was outside the limits of Ramnagar Colony Municipal Committee. Which came under Municipal Council Kathua after 1995. But even after 25 years, there is no proper system for drainage of dirty water in the localities of Ward 21 due to lack of sewerage there. He told that ward number 21 has a population of about 5000 and the dirty water from the houses of the local people collects in the vacant plots along the old canal.
Due to which people's houses are getting damaged a lot and due to the heat in the coming days, the outbreak of mosquitoes and flies due to dirty water will increase. He told that the people who had sold plots in Ward 21 had shown proper drainage of streets and drains, but now later the same people have encroached on the streets due to which there is no proper drainage of water. The local people who came in the delegation have demanded from DC Kathua that in Ward No. 21, along with the Revenue Department, the team of Municipal Council Kathua should be sent to the spot for inspection and proper drainage of drain water should be done.
