New Delhi. Due to increasing air pollution in the capital, the provision of Graded Response Action Plan (GREP)-2 has been implemented. Due to this, the number of metro trips in Delhi will also increase.

That is why the metro will make 40 additional trips every day. So that people can use metro and public transport more for transportation. So that the pressure of vehicles on the roads can be reduced.

This will help in controlling air pollution

It is noteworthy that the share of smoke emitted from vehicles in Delhi's air pollution is very high. Pollution also spreads due to traffic jams caused by the pressure of vehicles on the roads. In view of this, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has given instructions to increase the number of trips of the metro.

So that people can leave their personal vehicles and use metro as much as possible for travelling. At present the metro makes 4200 trips every day. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) had recently said that after the implementation of GRAP-2, the Metro will make 40 additional trips per day. Under this, this system will be started soon.

Big decision giving relief to the public

The second phase of GRAP has come into effect in Delhi from today i.e. 22nd October. Along with this, while some restrictions on people have increased, the number of metro trips has also been increased to provide relief to the public and to discourage the use of private vehicles.

If the number of metro trips is reduced, people will face problems and will have to stand in long queues and wait for their turn for hours. These problems can be avoided by increasing the number of metro trips.

Not only pollution, DMRC had also appealed to people to use metro to avoid traffic jams during festivals.

40 trips will increase in GRAP-2

According to DMRC, the metro makes about 4200 trips daily. The Metro will add 40 additional trips daily when GRAP 2 restrictions come into effect. GRAP 2 restrictions came into effect when the air index reached more than 300 in the extremely poor category.

Metro will make a total of 60 additional trips

In this way the metro will make 40 more trips every working day. Let us tell you that due to implementation of Grape-1, Metro is already making 20 more trips. In such a situation, now the metro will make a total of 60 more trips.
