New Delhi, 22 October (Hindustan Reporter). India and Pakistan have agreed through diplomatic channels to extend the validity of the agreement on Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor for a period of five years.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the extension of validity of this agreement will ensure uninterrupted operation of the corridor for pilgrims traveling from India to the holy Gurudwara in Pakistan.
With this, India has once again urged Pakistan not to impose any fee or charge on pilgrims. Pakistan charges a service charge of US$20 per pilgrim per journey. Pilgrims have been continuously requesting for its removal.
It is noteworthy that a five-year agreement was signed on 24 October 2019 to facilitate the travel of pilgrims to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, Narowal, Pakistan.
