Ranchi, 22 October (Hindustan Reporter). Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar said that the notification for the second phase of Jharkhand Assembly elections has been issued. The last date for nomination for this phase is October 29.
He said that in this phase, the largest assembly constituency in terms of area is Mandu while Jharia is the smallest. At the same time, from the point of view of population, the largest is Bokaro assembly constituency and the smallest is Silli. Similarly, from the point of view of maximum number of voters, Bokaro is the largest and Littipara is the area with the least number of voters. In these 38 assembly constituencies, the number of male voters is 62,79,029 and the number of female voters is 60,79,019. The total number of third gender voters is 147. The total number of polling stations is 14,218. Of these, 2,414 polling centers are in urban areas and 11,804 polling centers are in rural areas. The total number of third gender voters is 147.
The Chief Electoral Officer was holding a press conference at Nirvachan Sadan, Dhurva on Tuesday. He said that so far a total of 57 candidates have filed nomination forms for the first phase of elections. 32 people have registered on Tuesday. So far, a total of 12 cases of model code of conduct violation have been registered. The process of action against them is going on. Maximum eight cases have been registered in Garhwa district. One case each has been registered in Ranchi, Seraikela Kharsanwa, Dhanbad and Simdega districts.
He said that a close watch is being kept on the elements influencing the election activity. A total of 290 checkposts have been made in the state. Since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, illegal materials and cash worth Rs 12.5 crore have been seized. The state police has made maximum seizures. During the press conference, a video of Bhojpuri song related to voter awareness was also released. Its lyricist and music arranger is Joint Chief Electoral Officer Subodh Kumar.
