Maharashtra Elections 2024: A large amount of cash has been seized from a private vehicle in Khed Shivpura area of Pune district in Maharashtra. According to the information, an amount of Rs 4 to 5 crore has been seized from this private vehicle going from Pune to Kolhapur.
This matter has come to light during the booth inspection being conducted by Pune Rural Police in view of the elections. The white colored Innova has been taken to the police station of Rajgarh district. Four people have also been detained in this case. Let us tell you that elections have been announced in Maharashtra, after which the police is running such a checking campaign.
Shahji Nalawade, a worker of Sangola constituency MLA Shahji Bapu Patil, was traveling in the car. Shahji Bapu is an MLA from the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena party. According to the information, the car from which money has been seized belongs to the son of Shahaji Bapu Patil.
The police have handed over the amount to the Income Tax Department
Pune Rural Police seized Rs 5 crore in cash during routine vehicle checking at Khed Shivpur toll plaza late on Monday night. The money was found in a white Innova. The cash has been handed over to the Income Tax Department for further investigation into the source of the money.
There were four people in the car
After the seizure of cash, the police, following the protocol, immediately called the local Mamlatdar and Returning Officer to the spot. Police are interrogating the four people in the car. However, no arrests have been made yet and further investigation is underway. The purpose for which the cash was being taken is being investigated.
