When the films flopped, the shooting of Akshay's films was stopped midway.
Even today people like to watch Akshay Kumar's iconic film Hera Pheri. His scenes and dialogues are viral on social media. But according to the film producer, the shooting of this film was also stopped midway. Sunil Darshan said in an interview, 'How I decided to work with Akshay during that time.'
I felt there was something special in Akshay: Sunil Darshan
Talking about Akshay Kumar, Sunil said- 'There was a problem at that time that many of Akshay's films flopped and the shooting of many of his famous films was stopped midway. Another film had 90% shooting done and then it was stopped as it was rigged. Same was the situation with the film Dhadkan. Four reels were completed and that too stopped. But I felt there was something special in Akshay. I signed Akshay and said that the work will be done on my account. I told Karishma that there were two problems. First of all, I cannot give you as much money as you take from others. And the second thing is that Akshay is a hero. He said no problem, your company is our company. Even his mother Babita said that we would love to work with you.
Akshay Kumar cried
According to Sunil, Akshay's condition at that time was so bad that no distributor wanted to take his film. Also, no one from the industry was supporting Akshay. However, Sunil had great faith in Akshay. So convinced that he was ready to stop even the last penny he had left for her. When another of Akshay's films flopped, the producer abused him a lot.
You don't want your movie banner to look like this: Producer
Regarding this, Sunil said, 'Akshay came to me and had tears in his eyes. He told me that I had asked another producer why he did not make the banner of my film? So the producer said, 'You don't want the banner of your film to be seen.' I got scared after seeing Akshay's scared face. I asked to put up the biggest banner in Juhu, which has only Akshay's face on it. A man who was a burden to everyone, I knew he would prove to be an asset to me.'
The film Jaanwar was a blockbuster in Bihar.
Sunil told that the film Jaanwar performed well in select centres. Recalling an incident in this regard, Sunil said, 'Once in the party, Yash Johar told me that if anyone can defeat Lalu Prasad Yadav in Bihar, it is me. Because Zanwar was the biggest blockbuster in the history of Bihar state and the film was a hit for 100 days in 25 centres. Shilpa Shetty was also in the 1999 film Jaanwar along with Akshay Kumar and Karisma Kapoor. The film earned approximately Rs 124 crore at the box office.
