Diamond Harbour, October 21 (HS). Junior doctors and nursing students protested against corruption and threat culture at Diamond Harbor Medical College and Hospital. The protests began on Monday morning, where protesters blocked the college's administrative building. They are mainly demanding the resignation of the Principal of the Medical College. Along with this, a 12-point demand has been made against the mismanagement of the hospital.
Protesters alleged widespread corruption in blood banks and intimidation of nursing students and temporary workers. Temporary employees of Diamond Harbor District Hospital also joined the movement. Medical services in the hospital have been disrupted due to the strike.
Junior doctor Soumyadeep Vanik said that protests are being organized to ensure that such incidents do not happen in other parts of the state. He said that the agitation will continue until the authorities give proper answers.
Regarding this, Diamond Harbor Medical College Principal Utpal Daan said that nine students have been identified and action has been taken against them in the incident of bullying culture and question paper leak. He said he was ordered to leave the hostel, which was the main reason for the protest. He further said that the help of police administration has been sought in the matter and medical services will become normal soon.
