Srinagar, 21 October (Hindustan Reporter). National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah has retained the Ganderbal assembly seat and resigned from the Budgam assembly constituency. This announcement was made by temporary Speaker Mubarak Gul during the swearing-in ceremony in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Assembly.
Omar Abdullah had contested the elections from Ganderbal and Budgam assembly constituencies. After winning both the seats, he has decided to resign from Budgam. The announcement was made as part of the proceedings during the swearing-in ceremony, where 90 newly elected MLAs took oath in the Jammu and Kashmir UT Assembly. Temporary Speaker Mubarak Gul administered the oath to the MLAs. The MLAs expressed their commitment to serve the people of Jammu and Kashmir and took oath to uphold the Constitution and work for peace, stability and development of the region.
