Kanpur, 21 October (HS). Ghatampur town outpost in-charge Ashish Kumar Chaudhary and sub-inspector Anuj Nagar were suspended on Monday after investigation into the case of beating of a candle trader and illegal extortion. This information was given by Additional Police Commissioner Law and Order Harish Chander.
He told that in Ghatampur police station area, 50 thousand rupees were recovered from the candle factory operator Uday Prakash Sahu on the pretext of not having a license. Not only this, the policemen got twenty thousand rupees paid online. When the victim businessman complained about the recovery to the District President of Kanpur Eastern Trade Board, the officials were informed. The victim had alleged that two police personnel in plain clothes arrived on Sunday evening and started making a video of the house in his absence. Then both of them took them to the post. Where he was beaten and threatened.
Taking this complaint seriously, an investigation was ordered. Assistant Police Ghatampur investigated this matter. During the investigation, when prima facie the allegations were found to be true, outpost in-charge Ghatampur town Ashish Kumar Chaudhary and sub-inspector Anuj Nagar were suspended. In this regard, instructions have been given to register a case against both of them under relevant sections.
