After Salman Khan received threat from Lawrence Bishnoi, actress Somi Ali wrote a social media post for Bishnoi saying that she wants to talk to Bishnoi on a zoom call. After this Somi had to face a lot of trolling. In this background, while talking to the media, the actress has also commented on the black buck hunting issue.
In this interview, Somi claimed that Salman Khan had no knowledge that black bucks are worshiped in the Bishnoi community. Therefore, he has also said that there is no reason for him to apologize in this matter. The actress said, “Why should he apologize for something he doesn't know about? This might have happened unknowingly and there is no point in him apologizing to Salman. This has nothing to do with Salman… People say that Salman is egoistic, he is arrogant but it is not so. I have nothing to do with him or his family but violence can never be the answer to all this.”
Somi said, “Salman is a very kind person. They have an NGO…they did not know at that time that animals were actually worshiped in that tribe and what do you think? Will Salman be the only person hunting in that area? Actually, he is Salman Khan so people are following him. Bishnoi society needs to understand all these things. I can say with certainty that Salman Khan did not know that black bucks were worshiped in the Bishnoi community.
In her post, Somi had expressed her desire to meet Lawrence through a Zoom call… Everyone misinterpreted the post, the actress said, “Everyone misinterpreted my post. I am now actively involved in social work in Los Angeles. As part of this work I often meet victims or perpetrators. I was surprised to hear that Lawrence Bishnoi is using Zoom calls in Indian prisons, as these are not allowed in American prisons. I was surprised to read that Zoom calls etc. are done.”
Will talk to Lawrence Bishnoi
“I have degrees in broadcast journalism and psychology. I am taking training in that field. When I come to India, I want to talk to him directly in front of the media. I will definitely try for this. Now I have nothing to do with Salman and his family, I don't even want publicity. I last spoke to him in 2012. I just want no one to get killed. I care about Salman Khan as much as I care about the man on the street.” Somi said.
Somi expressed grief over the murder of Baba Siddiqui. The actress also said, “On behalf of Salman Khan, I apologize to the Bishnoi community. He didn't know that you worship deer. I will come to India and visit your temple. I will worship there and also donate to your temple.”
