After inaugurating the Rs 12,000 crore Mumbai Coastal Road in Maharashtra, CM Eknath Shinde and other leaders flagged off BEST electric buses from the coastal road. A vintage car rally was also given the green signal. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday inaugurated the first phase of Mumbai Coastal Road. In the first phase, the coastal road will connect Marine Drive to Worli in south Mumbai. The ten and a half kilometer long road has been opened for the general public today. CM praised the road and called it a miracle of engineering.
Mumbai Coastal Road has been built at a cost of Rs 12 thousand crores.
Officials said motorists can enter the coastal road from Worli Seaface and Haji Ali Interchange, Emerson Interchange and exit the road at Marine Lines. Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar were also present at the inauguration ceremony. After the inauguration, CM Eknath Shinde and other leaders flagged off the Best Electric Bus from Coastal Road. A vintage car rally was also given the green signal. The cost of this project is Rs 12,721 crore. Work on this ambitious plan started on 13 October 2018. Under this project, a central park spread over several acres is also being constructed.
Dharamveer Sambhaji Maharaj Coastal Road
CM Shinde said that this road has been named 'Dharamveer Sambhaji Maharaj Coastal Road'. A statue of Sambhaji Maharaj will also be installed near the coastal road in Worli. CM said that this road is a miracle of engineering and it has been constructed with modern technology. The CM said that the second phase of the project will be opened for the general public in May. Under which this road will connect Bandra-Worli Sea Link and Dahisar. This 53 km long road will save a lot of fuel and time and will also reduce pollution.
Mumbai will also get a 300-acre central park
Chief Minister Shinde said that 175 acres of green area will be developed under the Coastal Road Project. Mumbai will also get a 300-acre Central Park. Without taking names, the Chief Minister targeted the previous government of Uddhav Thackeray and alleged that the project work had slowed down during the previous government.
