Back pain is a common problem that can happen to anyone. This can happen due to many reasons, such as lifting heavy objects, excessive walking, sprains or nutritional deficiencies. However, some health experts believe that persistent back pain may not always be a minor problem. In some cases, it may be associated with spine cancer.
What is spinal cord cancer?
Spine cancer is the formation of a tumor on or near the spinal cord. It can be classified into two types: primary and secondary spine cancer. Primary spine cancer originates in the vertebrae or surrounding tissues, while secondary spine cancer occurs when cancer spreads to the spine from other parts of the body, such as the lungs or breast. It usually affects the upper back and may be a sign of serious illness.
Orthopedic surgeon Dr Arjun Dhawale said experiencing persistent back pain could be a sign of a tumor, reports Times Now. He advised immediate medical attention and diagnostic testing to confirm whether the problem is related to spine cancer. Dr. Dhawale said that one of the main causes of spine cancer is the activation of faulty genes. Most cases of spine cancer are found to spread from internal organs.
