Jaunpur, 19 October (Hindustan Reporter). Ashok Dhyanchand, former hockey world champion and Olympian awarded the Arjuna Award, arrived in the district for the first time on Saturday. He had come to participate in the program organized by Atul Trust, a social organization of the district. During this, while talking to the journalists, he discussed hockey as well as other sports and said that today once again hockey is going to set its record in the whole world. Also demanded from the Minister of State for Sports and Youth of the district, Girish Chandra Yadav, that he should make arrangements for the hockey players in his district, so that the youth of the district can help in progressing in the field of hockey.

He said that we are far behind in the hockey game, hockey is not prevalent on the ground, this is Kurukshetra, there are some states and their governments which are keeping hockey alive. There is a need to bring our children who are at the grassroots level to such a place. If the infrastructure is not strong then how can we evacuate the children. When we have land, children will also be available. Although many schools and colleges are capable of playing, they can motivate children for hockey by making grounds on their own. For this, everyone including government, universities and colleges needs to make efforts. Everyone is capable of this. Children want to play but they do not have a ground. Children are not able to play due to lack of money, compared to other sports there is less money in it but the amount of money needed is so much that the players can live a happy life. I understand that the players get so much money in this and will continue to get it.

On the allegations against the coach, he said that it is a human mistake to treat someone in what way. In today's era, there is a lot of competition, hence more mistakes are being made, but mostly this is happening in small level games. Regarding exploitation of players, he said that it remains to be seen who is selected, where and how. Today's children themselves are intelligent, there is no need to tell them how and where exploitation is taking place.
