Lucknow, 19 October (HS). Red Run Marathon was organized on Saturday with the aim of making the youth aware about HIV, AIDS infection and other sexually transmitted diseases. Nearly one thousand students ran 10 kilometers in this marathon. The race started from Gate No. 2 of Janeshwar Mishra Park and continued till Gate No. 6 and ended again at Gate No. 2. In the end the winners were honored with prizes and citations.
Ravindra Kumar, Additional Project Director of Uttar Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (UPSACS) and Professor Alok Kumar Roy, Vice Chancellor of Lucknow University, started the race by showing the green flag. In this race, the first three participants selected from 13 cluster headquarters participated in the Youth Fest program held recently. Apart from this, students of National Service Scheme of Lucknow University also participated in this race.
UPSACS Joint Director Ramesh Srivastava said that the winners at the state level will get an opportunity to participate in the national level marathon competition. Dr. Amarendra Kumar, Coordinator of National Service Scheme of Lucknow University, Narendra Singh of UPSACS, Pawan Chandel, Anuj Dixit and senior officials were present in the program.
