India-Canada Conflict: Relations between India and Canada are continuously deteriorating. According to a report, India has included an officer of Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) in the list of fugitive terrorists. The officer whose name has been included in the list has been identified as Sandeep Singh Sidhu. A demand has been made to send this fugitive terrorist to India.
Tension in India-Canada relations after Nijjar's murder
There has been a long standing diplomatic dispute between India and Canada after the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Due to this, India recalled its diplomats from Canada and also expelled Canadian diplomats. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have alleged that agents of the Indian government are involved in criminal activities against Canadian citizens on Canadian soil. India has not cooperated with Canada in the investigation of this matter. However, India contested the allegations and described them as baseless.
A Canadian police officer faces serious charges
According to the report, CBSA employee and member of the banned International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) Sandeep Singh Sidhu is accused of promoting terrorist activities in Punjab. Sandeep Singh Sidhu has alleged links with Pakistan-based Khalistan terrorist Lakhbir Singh Rode and other ISI operatives.
Sandeep Singh played a role in the murder of Balwinder Singh Sandhu in 2020. Shaurya Chakra awardee Balwinder Singh Sandhu fought against Khalistani terrorists during the Punjab insurgency and led the Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) protest against the Khalistani referendum in the US and Canada.
