Jammu, 18 October (Hindustan Reporter). Responding to recent allegations by AIUDF leader Badruddin Ajmal that Parliament and other government properties are being built on Waqf properties, BJP Rajya Sabha MP and Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) member Ghulam Ali Khatana has made important points related to misleading the Muslim community and their empowerment. Criticized Ajmal for diverting attention from the issues.

Khatana, who was on a study tour of Committee Assurances in Raipur, Chhattisgarh on Friday, said that the intention of the Modi government behind the amendment in the Waqf Act is to ensure that the benefits of resources go to the marginalized Indian Muslims and backward classes. Khatana criticized Ajmal for indulging in appeasement politics. He claimed that Ajmal's political base had shifted to Congress due to which he faced defeat in the Lok Sabha elections.

Khatana said the Waqf Amendment Act will ensure that poor Muslims get the benefits and not just a select few. He further pointed out that opposition MPs, including some JPC MPs, had earlier boycotted the committee proceedings following the revelations about Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge's alleged involvement in the Karnataka Waqf land scam.

Khatana said, I appeal to all members of the JPC to fulfill their responsibilities and support the interests of the marginalized deprived and backward Muslim communities. The Modi government is committed to their upliftment and the Waqf Amendment Act will ensure that Waqf resources are properly utilized for the betterment of these groups.
