Lucknow, 18 October (HS). In the presence of Dr. Arun Kumar Saxena, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Uttar Pradesh, approval letter was given to Sistema Bio organization for the establishment of 2250 domestic bio gas plants in the Environment Directorate on Friday. With the use of the plants, along with bio gas for cooking, organic fertilizer useful for agriculture will also be available.
The Forest Minister said that the total cost of each bio gas plant under this scheme is Rs 39300, out of which the beneficiary farmer will have to make a nominal contribution of only Rs 3990. The remaining cost will be met with central financial assistance and carbon credits from the Central Government. A unique aspect of this scheme is that an amount of Rs 20960 will be arranged by the Systema Bio organization by selling the carbon credits generated from the plant, which will reduce the financial burden on the farmer. This carbon financing model makes the project not only beneficial for the environment, but also affordable and sustainable for farmers.
Dr. Saxena said that apart from this, Sistema Biosanstha will provide service support to the farmers for the next 10 years with the establishment of the plant, to ensure smooth operation and maintenance of the plants. Under this project, priority will be given to women and small and small farmers, which will provide them clean and affordable fuel.
Additional Chief Secretary, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Manoj Singh and Director Environment, Ashish Tiwari were also present on this occasion.
