Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a program organized in Delhi on the occasion of Abhidhamma Day. Addressing Buddhist monks at Vigyan Bhawan, Prime Minister Modi talked about his faith in the return of Buddha.
He also reminded that Pali language has been given the status of classical language by the government and India is reviving its culture. Modi said that Abhidhamma Day reminds us that we can make the world better only with the help of compassion and goodwill. My relationship with Lord Buddha started with my birth. I was born in Vadnagar, Gujarat, which was a big center of Buddhism. The holy day of Sharadpurnima is also the birth anniversary of sage Valmikiji. Pali language given the status of classical language: Modi
Prime Minister Modi said, 'This year a historic achievement is also associated with the planning of Abhidhamma Day. The world's Buddhist heritage is in the Pali language. This month, the Government of India has given the status of classical language to Pali language. Respecting the Pali language as a scriptural language is a tribute to the great legacy of Lord Buddha. To understand the original meaning of Dhamman, understanding of Pali language is necessary.
