The situation is not clear regarding the candidates from Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency, there is a big possibility of Harsimrat Kaur Badal contesting the elections from this constituency for the fourth time

Bathinda: Lok Sabha elections can be announced any time. Therefore, various political parties have intensified their activities. The contest on Bathinda Lok Sabha seat is likely to be tough and interesting as always. The four major parties of the state are busy finalizing the names of candidates to contest the elections. The leaders who want to get tickets for the Lok Sabha elections have gathered in their trio. Till now the picture is not clear regarding the candidates of any party. Only Akali Dal's Bibi Harsimrat Kaur Badal is likely to contest from this seat for the fourth time. Intensive consideration is going on in all the parties regarding the ticket.

Harsimrat Badal may be a candidate for the fourth time

If seen, Bibi Harsimrat Kaur Badal can contest elections from Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency from Shrimomani Akali Dal for the fourth time. Similarly, there is also discussion going on about his visiting other assembly constituencies. If Bibi Harsimrat Kaur Badal does not contest from Bathinda, then senior Perti leader Balwinder Singh Bhundar and senior Saromani Akali Dal leader and former minister Sikandar Singh Maluka can be candidates. However, Bibi Harsimrat Kaur Badal has intensified her activities in Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency, due to which it seems that she will be a candidate for the fourth time in these elections. Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency is the personal constituency of the Badal family. Late Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal's Lambi assembly constituency falls in the Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency. Bathinda region has been the capital of politics during the Akali Dal government. Therefore, Harsimrat Kaur Badal is more likely to contest elections from this seat.

Four names of Congress in discussion

Although many leaders of the Congress Party are trying to get the ticket, but the names of four leaders are in discussion for the Lok Sabha ticket. Congress party can field Mahendra Singh Sidhu, former MLA of Sardulgarh Ajit Inder Singh Mofar, Punjab Pradesh Congress President Raja Waring or his wife Amrita Waring from Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency. In 2019, Captain Amarinder Singh Raja Waring had contested the elections from the Congress party against Akali candidate Bibi Harsimrat Kaur but lost by about 21,772 votes. However, Raja Waring is considered to be a stronger candidate than Bibi Harsimrat Kaur Badal. The Congress high command is still confused about Raja Waring's ticket because being the President of Punjab Congress, he has to campaign in all the 13 Lok Sabha constituencies. Some Congress leaders are arguing that Raja Waring should not live inside the Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency. Secondly, due to the bitter conflict that has arisen in the Congress Party, the party is taking steps with great caution. What Navjot Singh Sidhu's group does in these elections will be important. On the other hand, Ajitinder Singh Mofar is also seeking ticket from the party and has been active in the area for quite some time. Senior party leader Darshan Singh Jida is also a contender for the ticket.

BJP leaders also became active

Bharatiya Janata Party has also started weighing its weight. Bharatiya Janata Party leaders are fully active in cities and villages. Although many candidates are seeking ticket from Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency, but Sarup Chand Singla and Jagdeep Singh Nakai are the prominent leaders. If BJP does not form an alliance with Akali Dal then who among these two leaders can win the elections. Both the leaders left Akali Dal and joined BJP. Sarup Chand Singla is currently the urban district president of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Singla has deep connections with RSS leaders. Apart from this, about three to four other leaders are also seeking tickets from BJP.

Half a dozen contenders on AAP leader's ticket

In this way, about half a dozen leaders from Aam Aadmi Party are also contending for the ticket. The first name that comes is that of Punjab Agriculture Minister Jathedar Gurmeet Singh Khudian. His Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency is considered to be an area with good support base. The Aam Aadmi Party wants him to contest from the Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency, but some leaders believe that if Jathedar Khuddi wins the Lok Sabha elections, by-elections will have to be held on the Long seat, which is his constituency. Aam Aadmi Party. Therefore, the party has now made up its mind to let MLA Balkar Sidhu contest the elections from Rampura Phul assembly constituency. Being a famous Punjabi singer, Balkar Sidhu does not need any identity. Therefore, Aam Aadmi Party can field Balkar Sidhu by giving him ticket. His native village Pohla falls in Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency. After this, Sugar Fed Chairman Advocate Navdeep Singh Jida is also in the queue to take tickets. He has been active in the field for a long time. In such a situation, one of the names of those who took ticket from Aam Aadmi Party is that of Chairman of Municipal Improvement Trust and District President of Aam Aadmi Party Bathinda Rural, Jitinder Bhalla. Jitendra Bhalla is considered a very hardworking leader, on whom the party has great confidence. This is the reason why he has been made the Chairman of Municipal Improvement Trust, President of Aam Aadmi Party District Rural and in-charge of Bathinda Rural Circle. Apart from this, about half a dozen other leaders including a businessman are also seeking tickets from Aam Aadmi Party.
