Bhopal, 16 October (HS). Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said in his statement on Wednesday that continuous efforts are being made to improve the arrangements of Anganwadi centers run to improve the nutritional level of women and children. Sahariya, Baiga and Bhariya special backward tribes live in the state. The Central Government has considered the design of buildings of Anganwadi centers as the best for these areas.
He said that as per the parameters of the Central Government in Madhya Pradesh, under PM-Janman, one Anganwadi center will be opened for every 100 special backward tribe population. This year, the Central Government has approved the construction of 355 new Anganwadi center buildings for Madhya Pradesh in this current year. Whereas last year the Center had approved 194 new Anganwadi centres.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav gave instructions to departmental officers to make Anganwadi centers more useful and efficient. While getting information about the operation of Anganwadi centres, he also gave instructions to make innovations with public cooperation. He said that Anganwadi centers not only play an important role in the nutrition and primary education of children but are also important for the empowerment of women and the well-being of families. The facilities of Anganwadi centers are being improved in the state. With this, children can get a clean and safe environment.
Information has been given that a total of 97 thousand 329 Anganwadi centers are operating in Madhya Pradesh. There are 12 thousand 670 mini Anganwadi centers among them. Out of these, electricity facility has been provided in 79 thousand 910 buildings. The work of providing electricity facility in 8 thousand 692 buildings in the state is in progress. This facility will also be made available in the remaining 8 thousand 727 centers in the coming financial year. Approval has been given for the construction of 1782 new Anganwadi buildings with an amount of Rs 199.94 crore in the financial year 2024-25. Nutrition gardens are being established in the centers where there are boundary walls. Nutrition gardens have been established in 21 thousand 534 centers in the state.
51 thousand 63 Anganwadi centers are running in departmental buildings in the state. The number of Anganwadi centers operating in other government buildings is 20 thousand 727 and the number of Anganwadi centers operating in rented buildings is 25 thousand 539. In the year 2024, 194 new Anganwadi centers have been opened in the state under the Prime Minister's Tribal Justice Maha Abhiyan (PM-Janman).
Getting full support from central government
It is noteworthy that the Central Government has set the population criteria for the new Anganwadi centre. According to this, there is a provision to open 01 Anganwadi center for the population of 300 to 800 in the tribal area/project. In the rural and urban project, there is a provision to open 01 Anganwadi center for the population of 400 to 800 and thereafter 01 Anganwadi center for every multiple of 800.
Similarly, under PM Janman, a total of 549 new Anganwadi centers and 572 buildings have been approved by the Government of India. Under PM-Janman, 100 percent financial assistance is provided for building construction. A provision of Rs 68.64 crore has been made for Madhya Pradesh at the rate of Rs 12 lakh per building.

The work of strengthening Anganwadi centers is going on continuously. Along with electricity facility, other facilities are also being provided in the centers with public cooperation. In the last two financial years in the state, a total of 11 thousand 706 Anganwadi centers have got the benefit of upgradation as capable Anganwadi centres.
