Dharamshala, 16 October (Hindustan Reporter). Dehra assembly constituency has lagged far behind in the race of development, for which the earlier neglect is responsible. The state government formed under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu will now do justice to the area by giving priority to the development of Dehra. Area MLA Kamlesh Thakur said this while addressing the local public in Gram Panchayat Gathuttar on Wednesday.
Kamlesh Thakur said that no one seriously understood the needs and problems of Dehra and its people in the past. He expressed confidence that in the coming times Dehra will develop as an ideal assembly constituency in the state. He said that the Chief Minister has approved development works worth more than Rs 200 crore for Dehra Assembly constituency in the last three months alone.
The MLA said that the government has given instructions to create a land bank in Dehra, and regarding the construction of Circuit House, Indoor Stadium, Superintendent of Police Office, Critical Care Unit in Dehra Hospital and Circle Office of Public Works Department, Jal Shakti Department and Electricity Board. Appropriate guidelines have been issued. Apart from this, the government is also working towards proper exploitation of water sources along with projects of undergrounding of power cables and road construction works.
He said that the government is proposing many important projects to develop Kangra district as the tourism capital of the state. In this sequence, the work of the Zoological Park being built in Bankhandi, Dehra is going on at a fast pace. Steps are also being taken to promote tourism activities around Pong Dam.
Kamlesh Thakur interacted with the people in Gathutar and after listening to the public problems, resolved most of them on the spot. Instructions were given to departmental officers for timely resolution of the remaining problems. The local people warmly welcomed the MLA on his visit to their Panchayat.
Expressing gratitude to the MLA, the local head said that about Rs 25 lakh has been sanctioned by the government for developmental works in Gathuttar Panchayat.
