Raipur, 16 October (Hindus). The Election Commission of India has announced the by-election of Raipur South Assembly Constituency. Collector and District Election Officer Dr. Gaurav Kumar Singh today discussed with media representatives in the Red Cross meeting room located in the Collectorate premises regarding the Assembly by-election 2024. He said that the Model Code of Conduct has come into force immediately after the Election Commission announced the Assembly by-election 2024. Following the Model Code of Conduct, it will be applicable in Raipur South Assembly constituency only. Collector Dr Singh said that the notification for by-election will be issued on October 18. Candidates contesting the elections will be able to submit their nominations before the Returning Officer or Assistant Returning Officer till 25th October. Voting for the by-election of Raipur South Assembly constituency will be held on November 13. The results will be declared after counting the votes on November 23.
District Election Officer Dr. Gaurav Singh said that in view of the Assembly by-election-2024, the duty of Joint Collector Pushpendra Sharma as Returning Officer and Tehsildar (City) Rakesh Dewangan and Additional Tehsildar Raipur Vinod Kumar Sahu have been imposed as Assistant Returning Officer. . He informed that 266 polling stations have been set up in Raipur South Assembly constituency, which includes 253 main polling stations and 13 auxiliary polling stations. Similarly, the total number of voters in South Assembly is 2 lakh 70 thousand 936. These include 1 lakh 33 thousand 713 men, 1 lakh 37 thousand 171 women and 52 third gender voters.
Also, in the South Assembly constituency, a total of 1188 disabled voters, 5014 new voters, 1 thousand 711 voters above 85 years of age and 57 service voters will exercise their franchise.
It is noteworthy that from the last Assembly Election-2023 till date, a total of 10 thousand 988 voters have registered in Assembly 51 Raipur South with an increase of 4.23 percent. Similarly, from Lok Sabha elections 2024 till date, 03 thousand 47 voters have joined with an increase of 1.14 percent. Addressing the press conference, Collector and District Election Officer Dr. Gaurav Singh said that nomination form distribution will be done from Collectorate's room number 1 and nomination room number 9.
