Country's exports increased marginally to $34.58 billion in September

New Delhi, 16 October (Hindustan Reporter). The country's merchandise exports have registered a slight increase in September after two months of decline. In September, exports jumped 0.5 percent to reach $34.58 billion. Trade deficit has reduced to $20.78 billion.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said in the data released on Wednesday that the country's merchandise exports increased marginally to $ 34.58 billion in September, which was $ 34.41 billion in the same period last year. According to the ministry, imports increased by 1.6 percent to $ 55.36 billion in September, which was $ 54.49 billion in September 2023. The trade deficit (difference between imports and exports) in September stood at $20.78 billion.

According to the data, India's total exports (goods and services combined) for September are estimated at $65.19 billion, showing a positive growth of 3.76 per cent compared to September 2023. Total imports (goods and services combined) for the month of September are estimated at $ 71.68 billion, which is a positive growth of 3.79 percent as compared to September 2023.

The country's merchandise exports had declined by 9.3 percent on an annual basis in the month of August. However, in the first half (April-September) of the current financial year 2024-25, exports have increased by one percent to $ 213.22 billion, while imports have increased by 6.16 percent to $ 350.66 billion.
