Omar Abdullah took oath as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Center in Srinagar. With this he has become the first Chief Minister of a central state. Six MLAs including Omar have taken oath. Along with Omar Abdullah, Surinder Chaudhary, Satish Sharma, Javed Ahmed Dar, Sakina Etu, Javed Rana from National Conference have taken oath as ministers. Surinder Chaudhary has been made Deputy CM. Surinder Chaudhary has defeated BJP's Ravinder Raina from Nowshera.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief Tariq Hameed Karra today said that the Congress party is not joining the ministry in the Jammu and Kashmir government at present. Congress has strongly demanded from the Center to restore the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir and the Prime Minister has also promised this several times in public meetings. But statehood has not been restored to Jammu and Kashmir.
The JKPCC chief said that we are unhappy so we are not joining the ministry at this time and added that the Congress party will continue the fight for restoration of statehood.
