New Delhi: On one hand, India is working with China on diplomatic basis to reduce the increasing tension on the border. On the other hand, China is doing construction work near the border. Satellite images clearly show that China has done a lot of construction on the northern shore near Pangong Lake. This place is just 38 km away from the place where the conflict between India and China took place in 2020. Very far, but close to Pangong.
There is a border dispute between China and India at this place. Both have their own views. However, this construction has been done in China controlled Tibet.
This last photo was taken by American satellite company Maxar Technologies on October 9, 2024. Its height is about 4,347 meters i.e. about 14,262 feet.
Dr. Y Nithyanandam, professor and head of the Geospatial Research Program at the Takshashila Institute, said that China is building more than 100 buildings here. Residential areas and administrative buildings are visible in it. This could create a future park or sports facility in the surrounding open areas.
There is a 150 meter long strip to the south-east of this place. It is possible to build a helipad for helicopters at this location. Looking at the new construction, it looks like it has started recently. This is a slope. This colony is divided into two parts. The first is the administrative branch and the second is the operational area.
Study of the shadows revealed that the buildings were one to two stories high. Some small residential buildings have also been designed so that six to eight people can live in them.
Larger buildings may house administrative functions or contain storage facilities. The entire colony is built in rows rather than a straight line to avoid long-range attacks.
